“The quality of Alexis’ photos are unparalleled. We have family and friends constantly wowed by her photos of my kids, and she is somehow magically able to capture smiles on grumpy kiddos. One day my toddler was overtired and we were taking family tree-farm photos, and with her understanding attitude and quick shutter-finger, she managed to catch that half-smile right before the tears started and it’s one of my favorite family images to date.

As a professional, Alexis is patient and creative. She is always willing to spend extra time to get clients the “Shots” or images they are hoping for, even if your newborn needs several nursing sessions in between photos. She truly listened to our preferences during a newborn photoshoot and re-created an image we were interested in and cherish of my husband holding three kids at once. That said, she shines when she can indulge her own artistic perspectives and is able to judge just where the sunset over the lake will be an ideal backdrop for your family. She took an incredible photo of my two year old during a break in shooting during a maternity session…she just glanced over at the toddler in the grass and saw the light hit her curls, and expertly captured that impish toddler face as the sunset hit her hair.

Alexis excels at photographing in sunlight or natural light and creates stunning images that are instantly frame-worthy. She uses her knowledge of the Ithaca area to brainstorm gorgeous locations, and her artistic creativity to set up incredible props such as a wooden swing hanging from a lone tree branch in a field of long grass. She always goes the extra mile with interesting and beautiful props and wardrobes that improve but don’t overtake the images. She helped advise us on outfit coordination for a family shoot.

Finally, Alexis is passionate about what she does and about providing quality customer service, from snacks and drinks and diapers available for children to spending hours comparing similar (and all gorgeous) photographs to help you choose your favorites. “As a journalist, I have worked with many photographers over the years, and I can attest that Alexis was wonderful to work with.

We took our 1-month old to her studio for a newborn photoshoot last January (we had to reschedule because of weather and illness since it was the middle of the winter, but it all worked out fine – she was very flexible). She put my husband and I at ease right away.

She provided a number of beautiful props and was open to using the ones we brought from home. We did various setups in a short amount of time, and I was amazed how deftly she was able to pose our little sleeping baby.

Alexis was very accommodating for a nursing break and even helped clean me up when my baby pooped all over me at the end of the shoot. It helps that she is a parent to small children herself. She gets it. Her easygoing nature, creativity and openness to ideas and suggestions made her a joy to work with.
